About Steve
Steve is consultant based in NYC who as been delivering highly scalable, secure, and maintainable enterprise systems leveraging Open Source Java technologies for the past 15 years.
On his current project, he is focused on delivering a Financial Analytics system for a major investment bank in NYC.
- It is a Web 2.0 Analytics Platform available on the internet that features streaming real time data as well as an online “editor” that allows business users to create and modify content per the customers request
- This allows the business users to be more agile and react faster when presented with requests from their customers
- The client is implemented in Javascript leveraging libraries such as, EXT-JS, High Charts, JQuery and ACE.
- The server application is implemented as a Java Web Application deployed to WebLogic 10.3
- Many standard Java frameworks/tools are used on the project such as Core Java, Spring, Jersey, JMS, Log4j, Maven, Tomcat, TeamCity, JMeter, DWR, among others.
- The editor communicates via a pure RESTful API to Server (PUT, POST, GET, DELETE)
- On the server, the RESTful endpoints are implemented using Jersey 1.9.1
- Direct Web Remoting is used as the transport for streaming real time data.
For fun, Steve enjoys working on Scala, Spring, and RESTfull projects as well as on Scala Android projects.
While not cranking away on his MacBook, Steve likes cycling around town on his Specialized Roubaix.
